We Move Still

2017

34' x 20' x 10'

steel, debris netting, wind

The intent was to create a sculpture who is always moving, breathing, and dancing. We Move Still is in a constant state of change as it interacts with the elements. Material commonly used in the construction of skyscrapers fills the three story structure. The curtains act as walls that expand and recede when touched by the wind. Space is made slippery.

In their studio practices Rosenow focuses on queering building materials through simple bodily gestures and Martin chooses materials that interact with light and weather over time. Together their work overlaps as performative sculpture, centered around touch.

A huge thanks to Ben Janssens from SignMinds, John Boyer from Lakes Area Canvas and the Franconia staff who make everything possible.
